Per Tim Williams, Alex Presley and Kyle McPherson are en route to Milwaukee to join the big club. If they're added to the roster by tomorrow, they'll be playoff-eligible.

We've currently got 11 pitchers on the roster, so if we're looking to go with 12 in the postseason, that means we'd send 2 position players back down. I'm going to guess d'Arnaud and Clement.

I hope you're right...I'm worried that means Walker is going on the DL....

That's a pretty good guess...probably setting up the playoff roster. Truth is, whoever it is getting demoted, probably will not be sent down, but activated once the rosters expand on Sept 1...or do they have to be down for 10 days before being recalled?? Or is Sept 1 an exemption for that??

No way that Walker goes on DL. With roster expansion, you'll have plenty of bodies to fill in at 2B. That will ensure that Walker will be ready to play immediately without having to wait for the time on the DL to expire.

What are the odds Holt comes up?

Man, this guy is completely unconscious in AAA. I think he's 4 for 5 again tonight. His AAA batting average is well over .450. And the sample size is nothing to sneeze at.

I think it would be crazy to go with 12 pitchers in the playoffs. You only need four starters. Aren't seven relievers more than enough?

I could see the Pirates DFAing Correia to keep McPherson as a long reliever. Perhaps September is McPherson's audition for that role.

Holt is not on the 40 man roster. There was some talk of Sanchez getting his feet wet, but he is not on the 40 either. I think there are a couple openings on it though, so that could change,

d'Arnaud back to AAA, Clement outrighted to Bradenton according to PP.

I imagine the reason to send him to Bradenton is so they can call him back in less than 10 days when their season ends. If he goes to Indy he can't return due to their playoffs.

They both "went" to Bradenton and that is exactly the reasoning.

Excellent, according to Kristy Robinson. She just tweeted that Holt will be one of the five minor-leaguers to join the Bucs in Milwaukee tomorrow. The other four: Leroux, Locke, Wilson, and Fryer. Leroux and Holt will need to be added to the 40-man roster, which will work out because there are 38 players there now, since Clement was outrighted.

Locke to rotation, I assume, right?

That's what I've heard rumored on Twitter, yes.

Three days after being dropped from the 40-man roster, Jeff Clement was re-added to the 40-man roster today and will rejoin the team in Pittsburgh. Some dude named Oscar Tejeda was dropped from the 40-man to make room.

Ya know, I'm starting to think that NH is lacking a master plan here and is just making this up as he goes along. :|
