Today's line up could have been the worst we've fielded this entire year. 6-9 were basically automatic outs. Also, maybe it's just me but I HATE HATE HATE DY as a starter. Church still playing is a joke. When you don't have your best hitter in the line up (not JR's fault, I know), shouldnt you make an attempt to field a lineup thats at least competitive? These are Major League ball players. If they can't play 30 freakin games in a row then what the hell are the up here for? Obvious exception made for catchers.

Sorry for the rant. It just frusterates me to see us trot out that kind of team just because we won the first two games of the series? We aren't that good yet, Russell.

Just curious as to the dislike for DY?

I think he's been pretty good in his role as a pinch hitter/spot starter and has played pretty good in the OF recently...

As long as he stays in that role, fine.

You almost never get an o-fer out of DY. He's more likely to get multiple hits plus he will take a walk. I don't mind at all seeing him in the lineup once in a while, even though he is not real good defensively.

I'm ok with DY. He's one of the best PH in the league and a spot start or fill in isn't a bad thing. I however am ready to be out of the Ryan Church situation. I'd rather have Steven Pearce (when healthy) or Brandon Moss up here right now.

I don't have a problem with DY getting a start every once in a great while. I just think Russell rests people way too much. Does anyone here really think Milledge has trouble playing 50 games in a row? I mean Cal Ripken Jr. played 2000+ games at a much more demanding position. Russell thinks Milledge can't play 50 games in a row? We could all go on about Church and his stats (lack there of) but an even bigger part is that if Church is in the line up, one of the 3 young outfielders is not. I find it hard to believe that Milledge, Tabata, or Cutch need a day off more than every 100 days. But hey, maybe it's just me.

Anyone have any updates on Pearce?
